So, what’s Five Favorite Things® all about!?

Five Favorite Things® (FFT) was founded with the intention of creating an efficient and fun way for consumers to share their favorite products and have access to authentic reviews from trusted sources; their own friends.

Our Story

From Megan Eileen, Founder of Five Favorite Things®:

In 2014, I took a promotion at my corporate job which moved my family across the country. It was a big move and I worried about whether I’d be able to find “my people” so far from home. I scored an invite to a Five Favorite Things Party and was delighted to attend. It was the first time I had heard of the concept.

I’m a lover of people and what makes them unique. There at the party I sat listening to each woman share her favorite items and we all became quick friends. Each person in the room had expertise in a different category. One was obsessed with fitness; the other thriving while raising kids. There was an avid reader, a small business owner, and someone who was passionate about cooking. Each contributed their favorites recommendations according to their experience and I was awestruck. Not only did I appreciate the opportunity to listen to these women talk about their passions and expertise, but given my career in digital experience software sales for a Fortune 100 company, I understood the value of their opinions. I set out to replicate this connected community experience in a digital way.

The most common reaction I get when I explain the idea of Five Favorite Things® is, “Hasn’t that been done before?” While there are other product reviews platforms, there are a few values that set Five Favorite Things® apart:

  1. Five Favorite Things® is free to use. Creating an account and sharing favorites with your friends is free. We’ll never ask you to purchase products, give gifts to others, or bring gifts to events.
  2. Anyone can recommend a favorite product, and all reviews are treated equally. We’ve leveled the playing field. Everyone’s opinion matters and everyone is an influencer in their own circles.
  3. We focus on connections between people. It’s a lot easier to discern authenticity when you’re getting a recommendation from a friend verses a stranger on the internet or AI bot. We help track connections and enable you to filter reviews according to your trusted network of friends.
  4. No paid product advertising. Instead of taking advertising dollars from brands to promote products on our site, we ask that they participate in ways that benefit our site users. We encourage brands to send product samples of items that have already been reviewed to support our giveaways and marketing events. This ensures the integrity of our site content while enabling us to give back to the FFT community in fun and engaging ways.
  5. Always a circle, never a pyramid. We take pride in being a neutral 3rd party to your recommendations and purchases. Our FFT team will create authentic reviews of our own, but we receive no special benefit to the products that we individually recommend. Our biggest priority is encouraging as many every-day people to recommend their sincerest favorite products, and use our site to inform smarter purchases.

What started as a fun way to gather friends over easy conversation has become a creative playground for me to feed curiosity, enthusiastically support others, and build community. Please enjoy this site, share it with friends, and use it to inform your purchases.
